TearCare

We are excited to announce a new treatment for dry eye! TearCare is an easy, in-office procedure that uses localized heat therapy to treat a form of dry eye called meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD).

Meibomian gland dysfunction is a common cause of dry eye that occurs when the oil glands in your eyelids are blocked. When these oils are too thick or aren't released, your tear film evaporates very quickly, and it can also prevent tears from spreading evenly across the eye. This blockage can lead to unpleasant symptoms such as dryness, irritation, inflammation, and fluctuating vision. TearCare loosens these blockages by applying heat to the eyelids to liquify the stagnant oils in the glands of your eyes. After 15 minutes of therapeutic heat, our eye doctor will express obstructions which will allow new oil to begin flowing.

TearCare is a noninvasive procedure that can be performed comfortably and quickly in our office. This novel therapy can improve the overall health of your eyelids and tear film, decreasing the need for other eye drops and medications.
